If you don’t already know us, we’re The Cookes! I’m Louise, married to Howard and James is our 7 year old son.
I’ve created this blog site (my first ever!) to track our journey since James was diagnosed with Perthes in 2017. I’ll cover more about what Perthes is in a blog post but in case you’re curious now, you can have a quick read: What is Perthes?
We are now a ‘Perthes Family’ and the only thing to do when life throws something unexpected at you is to deal with it, and this blog is one of the ways for me to ‘ embrace’ it.
In addition to helping James manage, and hopefully heal, his condition, our goals are to raise awareness of Perthes, help and support other Perthes families, and raise funds to support the much needed research. The questions anyone asks when diagnosed with something is ‘why?’ and ‘how can you fix it?’. And the experts have yet to find the answers!
